Elaine Tosch Meyer
Elaine Louise (Tosch) Meyer, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2026.
She was born in Mankato on January 11, 1949 to Agnes (Bunny) Engelhardt Tosch and Clarence Benjamin Tosch.
Elaine was proud to be known as a North Mankato kid, ice skating at Wheeler Park, playing at Mud Lake and exploring the bluffs.
She became a Scarlet for life having graduated in 1967 from Mankato High School and heading up class reunions every five years.
On August 15, 1970 she married Philip Meyer. Elaine graduated from Mankato State College with degrees in Secretarial Science, Social Work and Early Childhood Special Education upon which she built her career.
Elaine spent 25 years teaching at Open Arms and River Bend Education Special Education District. She retired as owner/manager and engraver at U.S. Engravers.
Elaine and Phil loved to travel to many countries around the world and states within the US. One of their favorite things to do were to go to music concerts of local and very famous artists.
Lots of different activities kept Elaine busy such as gardening, stained glass work, jig saw puzzles, volleyball, tennis and going to the beaches. Although she was allergic to cats, she loved watching the five feral cats we feed playing around in the yard and then spending their nights in their five heated houses in the heated garage! Oh what we won’t do for the animals.

Elaine wanted to say that her best caretaker was her husband, Phil and she thanks him wholeheartedly.
Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family and attending as many of their activities as she could.
Her most rewarding life event was the adoption of their son, Paul who continues to be the highlight of her life.
Elaine’s funeral and celebration of life will be Saturday, February 28th 2026 at Hosanna Lutheran church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 9:30 till 11am and service from 11 till noon. A light lunch will be served immediately after at the church

Dear Phil, so sorry for the loss of your beautiful wife Elaine. I always appreciated all you both did to keep our class of 67 informed and plan our reunions. My thoughts are with you in your loss of your wife and best friend. My deepest sympathy.

She was a great leader. I told her that like the guy in "its a wonderful life", she was born older. She sometimes walked me to school. The first grade was the worst year of my life. The teacher scared the pants off me from day one! Kept running away.
After reading the announcement from Phil, Elaine appeared in a dream to me. She was chairing some kind of a meeting of the class of 67 members in the Hill Top area. Some how I agreed to volunteer to chair the dance subcommittee probably because I knew nothing about it. I began jotted down the names of classmates who also wanted to join. I began considering places to dance. Then woke up.

Phil so sorry to hear of Elaine’s passing, I hope you’re dong well. Someone on an earlier post talked about Elaine’s infectious smile and I have to agree. She had that smile all through the time I knew her in elementary, junior high and high school. It was quite the crew in North Mankato where we grew up and a lot of good times. Skating at Wheeler Park, dances at the Jr. High School - SNOW BALL and the basement parties around North Mankato. From the Class of “67 posts and photos over the years she never lost that smile. You and everyone she touched will miss her greatly. PEACE

Thoughts and sympathy for your loss Phil. Was blessed to be able to go to lunch acouple times with Elaine last year. We had a great time sharing memories of North Kato days and growing up. Much like Tom O's memories of dances, basement parties, ice skating, a slumber party here and there. Elaine was everyone's friend. ...just a good person. She will be missed.
