Greencastle, PA -- Dennis Bode 1949 - 2005

Dennnis A. Bode, age 56, of 51 Homestead Dr., Greencastle, Pa., and formerly of North Mankato, MN died at 2:53 p.m.Thursday, December 15, 2005 in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa. following complications from multiple myeloma.

Born August 16, 1949, in Owatonna, MN, he was the son of Orville W. Bode of Pine City, MN and the late Wilma M. (Volberding) Bode.

He was employed in sales at Regency Thermographers of Waynesboro, Pa., whose parent company is Taylor Corporation of North Mankato, MN. He had also worked at Midwest Electric of Mankato,MN. Mr Bode was a member of the St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle, Pa., and was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish of North Mankato when he resided in MN.

He was a City Council member of North Mankato, advisor for Junior Achievement, and was a former member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #5551. Mr. Bode was a member of MAYBA and was co-founder of the City Lights Club. Mr. Bode was a graduate of Manatio High School and of the South Central College of North Mankato, MN. He served 12 years in the U.S. Army reserves. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

He and his wife, Nancy L. (Scheuer) Bode were married August 3, 1968 in Mankato, MN. Surviving family in addition to his father and his wife are: one daughter, Carissa A. (Jerrel) Flanagan, Mankato; two sons, Martin A. (Angela) Bode, North Mankato and Gregory L. Bode, Silver Spring, MD; one sister, Kathryn M. Bode, Orono, MN; three brothers, Louis O. Bode, Rochester, MN, Robert L. Bode, Long Lake, MN and Donovan H. (Nancy) Bode, Superior, WI.Three grandchildren: Rachel and Nicholas Bode, North Mankato and Keiryn Flanagan, Mankato. In addtion to his mother, he was preceded in death by a stillborn infant Elizabeth.

A memorial mass will be held on December 26 from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the local American Cancer Society designated for Multiple Myeloma Research.

Denny Bode died on December 15, 2005 from an incurable blood cancer, Multiple Myeloma.

His family and friends, organized the first memorial golf tournament in 2006 to raise money to fight this deadly disease. Over $65,000 has been raised. All monies raised are sent to the Mayo Foundation for Multiple Myeloma
