Mary Rasmussen 1949 - 1994

SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church organist and choir director Mary Jeanne Rasmussen, 44, of Mankato died of natural causes Friday, March 4, 1994, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Centenary United Methodist Church in the Multi-Church Center, the Rev. Roger Parks and the Rec. Ted Hottinger S.J. officiating. There will also be a memorial service at 8:10 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial is in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be given to donor's choice.

Miss Rasmussen was born August 16, 1949, to Axel and Elvera (Fuller) Rasmussen in Mankato. She was a graduate of Mankato High School. She was a magna cum laude graduate of Mankato State University, where she received a bachelor of music degree in piano performance and in organ performance. She studied music at the University of Michigan for two years before receiving a grant to study msic at a conservatory in Vienna. She was a music instructor at the seminary and boys' school at Heiligenkreuz Abby in Austria. She lived in Austria for seven years. She had been organist and choir director at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato the past 3 1/2 years. Before that she had been organist at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Faribault. She also taught piano in her home. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato.

Miss Rasmussen is survived by her father; one sister and her husband, Helen and David Fuchs of Medford; and one niece and her husband, Erika and Kyle Kuhlman of Faribault. She was preceded in death by her mother.
