Charles R. Burns

1949 – 2021

Charles "Charley" Robert Burns, age 71, of Mankato passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary.

Burial with military honors will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

Charley was born on September 16, 1949 to Robert and Marguerite (Connelly) Burns in Mankato, Minnesota.

Charley was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam war. He graduated from Mankato State with a degree in Law Enforcement and served for over 30 years in the law enforcement field.

His hobbies included camping, rodeos, and any horse related activity. Charley especially enjoyed spending time with his children, and his grandchildren.
 

Charley is survived by his wife, Debra Burns; children, Casey Burns, Andrew (Amanda) Burns, Alex (Jeannie) Burns, Rodney Whight, and Katelyn Whight; sister, Jane (Allen) Nelson; grandchildren, Lydia, Parker, and August Burns, and Barrett Whight. He was preceded in death by his parents (Robert L. and Marguerite M. Burns), and brother, Jim Burns.
